Child Protection Policy

 

Statement

 

Edwalton Football club will ensure that the safety, welfare and protection of the Children accessing the club, at all levels, will be held at the highest priority.

 

Children’s and Parents views and concerns will be respected at all times

 

Through adherence to the Policy statements below the Coaches and the Club will work toward benefiting all children they work with in a safe, courteous, responsible and professional manner.

 

This Policy is specific to Edwalton Football Club and does not affect any rights, responsibilities and requirements laid down in law.

 

Policy

 

  • All coaches / volunteers will be advised of the Nottingham Safeguarding Board Child Protection Procedures.
    • All coaches / volunteers will be kept up to date with best practice models as laid down by the Football Association and / or Safeguarding Board.
    • The Club Welfare Officer (John Posaner) will ensure that a copy of these procedures is uploaded on the Edwalton FC website.
    • The Club Welfare Officer will ensure that Child Protection information from the FA and the Safeguarding Board is regularly reviewed and dispersed as appropriate.
    • The Club Welfare Officer will hold an up to date Criminal Records Bureau check that may be requested to be seen by any Coach, volunteer or parent at any time.
    • Managers and Coaches monthly meetings will contain a standard Child protection agenda item.
    • All appropriate Criminal Records Bureau Checks will be made under the guidance laid down by the Football Association.
    • All Coaches will be provided with documentation that defines: Neglect, abuse, legal responsibilities and how to make a referral.
    • An up to date register of attendees will be kept of all children who access training or matches with Edwalton Football Club.
    • Edwalton Football Club will keep all parents fully informed of the Club Welfare Officers contact details and remit.
    • All Children registered with the club will also be clearly informed of their right to be heard, complain in an appropriate manner and be free to express concerns should they exist.
    • Parents will be kept informed of any safety, protection or welfare issues as soon as is practicable and appropriate as laid down by the referral criteria.
    • All coaches will hold contact details of parents / carers. These details will hold any medical issues that Edwalton Football Club should be made aware of (e.g. Asthma, epilepsy)
    • All training sessions and matches will be conducted in public.
    • At least one official Coach of Edwalton Football Club will be present at all training sessions and matches.
    • No coach / volunteer will use foul or abusive language to any young person.
    • Edwalton Football Club will promote enjoyment, safety and welfare ahead of results at all times.
    • At the end of each training or match session Edwalton Football Club will ensure that all registered players attending the session are released in to the care of a parent or carer known to the club.
    • No coach will use physical force or any intimidating behaviour at any time to any child.
    • Any physical contact with any young person must be appropriate. Examples may include the positioning of players in to formation at training or advising a player of footballing technique.
    • All appropriate physical contact must be completed on the field of play and in public view.
    • Any physical contact by coaches / volunteers in private must be avoided.
    • To avoid potential misunderstanding coaches and volunteers should avoid lone working with a young person that is not in public view.
    • Coaches must bring first aid equipment (provided) to all training sessions and matches. Mobile phones must also be present in order to call the emergency services if needed.
    • Photographs of young people may only be taken with the express written permission of those with parental responsibility. This permission may be held on file.
    • Edwalton Football Club will continue to adhere to a zero tolerance on bullying.
    • All registered players attending training must wear appropriate equipment to avoid unnecessary injury. This will include appropriate footballing footwear and shin pads.
    • Any parents / carers / spectators who are thought to be verbally abusive around the field of play will be instantly challenged by Edwalton Football Club and asked to leave the session if it is deemed appropriate to do so by the Head Coach.
    • Any concerns may be reported to the club Welfare Officer (details below). In the event of the concern regarding that welfare Officer then the complainant will have the right to raise the concern to any other coach.
    • There is also an absolute right to refer matters to the Young Elizabethan League, The Football Association or the Nottingham Children’s Safeguarding Board.
