Edwalton Cavaliers (6) versus Breaston Park (Reds)(0)

Joint champions of Division 3 Blue and well deserved. A fantastic season from start to finish and what a finish it was. Despite two fantastic goalkeepers from Burton Joyce we still managed to win 8-0. The passing was probably the best I have seen all season and the team work was sublime. Untold by the score line Burton Joyce created opportunities to score but a new found confidence from Jack G kept them out of our goal, some fine handling and one particularly great save when he came out to edge of his box to save a one on one chance. Tom Bethea in a new role as central midfielder was exceptional, winning the ball and finding a simple pass to create openings and to his reward a great hat trick. Joe Wroughton eventually managed to find his left foot and found the net, but his crosses were brilliant and foremost in our victory. Ryan started on the left and ran his socks off, covering well at the back when required and getting the essential challenges in from midfield. Oscar made some mazey runs down the right opening up the Burton defense and managing to bag a brace himself. Dan was resolute at the back, picking up the ball and playing the simple passes, usually to Oscar down the line keeping the pressure on Burton Joyce. When Robbie came on second half his awareness and ability to look up and lay off little passes to set up goals really gave us so many options up front, and Connor continues to run the right flank with unsurpassed energy levels. Most of all today, Ethan at the back won everything that came his way and this week used his head and passed the ball each and every time to one of our players. Most of the time he made the right pass, splitting the Burton defense and creating goals. A perfect team performance, and captains performance today from Ethan and well deserves MOM.

Presentation night on the 5th June will be a good event this year and I want you all to know, how ever the trophies finish up being handed out you have all surpassed expectation this year and you are ALL in my thoughts for trophy allocation. Deciding between any of you is going to give me sleepless nights.

Well done to you all, I don’t know how can improve on this next year!

Tonights game was away against Attenborough and good to see the whole team getting stuck into the match playing brilliant footballing from the off!

Your teamwork and passing was excellent which quickly showed with a great pass from Ajay to Harvey getting our 1st goal, followed in quick succession by the 2nd goal set up by Joel and scored by Josh(G) and then within minutes a spectacualr goal (possibly best of the season?!) from Joel and a 4th from Harvey.

This was all you needed to be back on top form boys - your heads were held high and you played, passed, tackled and saved like the great team that you are boys!!

Towards the end of the 1st half Ajay scored our 5th goal and the opposition scored 1.

To be fair the opposition must have got a bit of fire in their bellies and upped their stratedgy but not before Joshua(P) came on and scored a great goal.

The teamwork at this point particularly from Joshua, Max and Tom was really good, with some great passes from Harvey and Joao, good defence from Max and Raul and great goalkeeping from Jordan, and accurate passes and runs from Josh,Joel and Ajay saw an exciting 2nd half.  We had a penalty against us twice (once i think was somewhat controversial!?!) saw Attenborough score another 2 goals, but undeterred our 7th goal came from Tom making the final score 7-3 to Edwalton.

Well done each and every one of you-you played a good game of football, played to win and played as a team - a repeat performance please of this on our last match on Saturday is all that is needed for another win - you can do this and you deserve another win!!

Man of the match tonight goes to Josh (G) for all round good football tonight - well done Josh you will be captain at our last match - lead your team out to victory!!!
